Muddy Wellies at a fabulous Kilnsey Show
Growing Routes attended yet another boggy Kilnsey Show with the weather again doing its best to make life difficult for the Show organisers. However, in true Dales farming spirit, the show went ahead with its usual attractions including the famous Kilnsey Crag fell race.
The Growing Routes team were very grateful for the organisers of the REAL Food and Farming area of the show who allowed them to have a space to pitch their marquee, as the allocated stand space was inaccessible due to poor ground conditions.
Despite the weather, the crowds turned out, perhaps not in record breaking numbers, but at least it made it worth everyone’s effort in being there. As with the other local shows attended this summer by Growing Routes, there is a renewed interest from the farming community to look at new ways to develop their businesses and to take advantage of the support that is available from Growing Routes and the Rural Development Programme for England funding.
Levels of new enquiries are encouraging and the range of interests being expressed shows that the entrepreneurial spirit is not being depressed by the weather.
